Who We Are

Maternity home residents are rarely allowed to stay long-term. Hannah’s Home is unique in offering a two-year residential program that includes counseling, life skills classes, opportunities to further education and an introduction to the Gospel.

Our Mission

Hannah’s Home of South Florida provides a safe and loving Christian environment for single, pregnant young women. Through counseling, life skills, and continuing education, we offer hope and transform lives.

Our Vision

We want to see lives changed, hope restored, and hearts transformed.

Our Inspiration

Our founder named Hannah’s Home of South Florida after Hannah from 1 Samuel in the Bible. She was barren and prayed desperately for a son. When God heard her prayer and granted her a son named Samuel, she thanked Him and dedicated her child to the Lord. Our founder was inspired by this story that represents every child, no matter the circumstances, is a gift from God. “Then Hannah prayed and said: ‘My heart rejoices in the Lord; My horn is lifted high.’” 1 Samuel 2:1

Carol Beresford founded the first Hannah’s Home in Mentor, Ohio in 2001 with a vision of giving women an alternative to abortion. She and her husband, Paul, sat together and brainstormed on a napkin scribbling their first thoughts about a building project. The dream was to build a maternity home for young women with crisis pregnancies. The home sits on a five-acre property and houses up to 23 residents. Carol was soon called to build another location of Hannah’s Home, but in Tequesta, Florida.
Plans for Hannah’s Home of South Florida developed in 2003 through a referral service and private residential placement program. A three-acre property was acquired in 2009 and the new Hannah’s Home began renovations in Tequesta, Florida thanks to generous tradesmen and craftsmen who donated their time and resources. In 2011, Hannah’s Home of South Florida opened its doors with room to house four resident mothers and their babies.
